Sri Lanka, July 24 -- The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has received 5,523 complaints involving children between January and June 2026 including cases of child abuse, Women and Child Affairs Minister Saroja Savithri Paulraj informed Parliament.

She stated that 4,421 child abuse cases were pending before the High Courts as of April 30, with efforts underway to expedite legal proceedings and also noted plans to establish nine provincial video evidence recording units to support child victims during Court proceedings.
