Sri Lanka, Oct. 18 -- The Sri Lanka Navy has taken into custody a multi-day fishing vessel that was transporting a consignment of 53.134 kilograms of heroin in the Southern seas off Galle along with five individuals.
The vessel that was seized with the consignment of narcotics along with the five suspects that were arrested on Thursday (16) night by the Navy have been brought to the Galle Harbour yesterday (17) morning.
Navy Media Spokesman Captain Gayan Wickramasuriya said the vessel had been intercepted on suspicion of transporting a large haul of narcotics by conducting a raid in international waters and that a subsequent inspection carried out uncovered 53.134 kilograms of heroin concealed onboard.
