Navy rescues woman in Diyawanna Oya
Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- A 59-year-old woman who fell into the Diyawanna Oya was rescued by a Sri Lanka Navy life saving team.
The incident on August 24, was near Kimbulawala along the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Road. The section of the Diyawanna Oya the woman, a resident of Nugegoda, fell into was in the Sandun Uyana area of Battaramulla.
A lifesaving team attached to the Navy's Rapid Action Boat Squadron, deployed for security operations at the Diyawanna Oya, spotted the woman in the water and immediately launched a rescue operation.
The woman, who was struggling in the water, was brought ashore safely by the Navy team and was taken to the Colombo National Hospital for further medical treatment.
