Sri Lanka, June 5 -- Initial steps to digitise the public service and develop the technical skills of public officials has commenced.

This will be a national drive to move Sri Lanka towards a digital economy.

A special discussion on this was held on Wednesday with Digital Economy Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne and Provincial Councils and Local Government Deputy Minister Ruwan Senarath.

The main objectives of this programme are increasing the efficiency of the public service to keep up with global technological trends, minimise service delays, and develop the technical knowledge of officials.
