Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- The Attorney General yesterday informed the Court of Appeal that a National Action Plan is currently being prepared by the authorities to mitigate the growing human-elephant conflict in the country.
State Counsel Shemanthi Dunuwille, appearing for the Attorney General, made these submissions when a writ petition seeking an order directing the authorities to detect and remove illegal electric fences aimed at ensuring the protection and conservation of elephants was taken up before the Court of Appeal. She further assured Court that a copy of the National Action Plan would be submitted by way of a motion once the drafting process is finalised.
