Sri Lanka, April 21 -- Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, Kamal Amarasinghe, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and remanded on charges of aiding and abetting the alteration of a cab's chassis number for registration, was released on bail yesterday (20).
Pilessa Magistrate W.M.M.I. Wasala ordered his release on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two personal bails of Rs. 200,000 each. Along with the bail, the court also imposed a foreign travel ban on the Commissioner General.
The suspect was arrested in Colombo on March 27. The arrest followed a probe by the CID based on initial investigations conducted by the Panadura Walana Central Anti-Corruption Task Force.
