Sri Lanka, July 13 -- The mother of Ishara Sewwandi, one of the main suspects in the high-profile Ganemulla Sanjeewa murder case, has reportedly passed away while in remand custody at Welikada Prison.

She is believed to have died of a heart attack on July 11.

Both the mother and brother of the suspect, Ishara Sewwandi, had been arrested by police on charges of aiding and abetting the murder. They were produced before court and subsequently remanded pending further investigations.

Prison and police authorities are expected to submit a report on the incident to the relevant magistrate.
