Sri Lanka, July 7 -- The foundation stone was laid for the construction of 57 new housing units at Cannavarella Plantation Estate in Badulla district under Phase IV of the Indian Housing Project.

Plantation and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyaratna and Consul General of India in Hambantota Shri Harvinder Singh laid the foundation stone on July 5.

The Indian Housing Project is a flagship development initiative by the Government of India in Sri Lanka. It includes the construction of around 60,000 houses through grant assistance of over INR 18 billion.
