Sri Lanka, July 14 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a three-month extension of the monthly rental allowance for homeowners who lost their properties due to the effects of Cyclone Ditwah.

This extends the previous six-month duration to nine months, providing temporary support while permanent or interim homes are constructed.

The extension was granted to ensure displaced families in severely affected areas such as Kegalle, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Badulla can secure safe temporary housing until permanent houses are constructed at suitable locations under the ongoing resettlement programme.
