Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- A discussion chaired by Fisheries, Aquatic, Marine and Ocean Resources Minister Ramalingam Chandraseker was held with the participation of 25 district coordinators of the Ministry to address the growing concerns of drug smuggling through maritime routes, on Tuesday (23).

During the meeting, the Minister instructed the Anti-Narcotics Division to conduct awareness programmes to educate fishermen on how to avoid being exploited by drug traffickers. He stressed that preventive measures must be taken at the community level to ensure that fishermen are not drawn into illegal activities.
