Sri Lanka, March 16 -- Agriculture, Lands, Livestock and Irrigation Minister K. D. Lalkantha stated that the Government will take immediate measures to control the situation in which certain businessmen have abnormally increased fertiliser prices by exploiting the international crisis caused by the war.

The Minister noted that farmers allege that certain black-market traders and private entities have increased the price of a bag of fertiliser from Rs.9,000 to between Rs.12,000 and Rs.13,000. He emphasised that these price hikes affect stocks imported before the current global conflicts began.
