Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- A meeting chaired by Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar was held recently at the Fisheries Ministry to address the issues faced by multi-day fishing vessel owners countrywide.

The discussion brought together representatives of the All-Island Multi-Day Fishing Vessel Owners' Association, Fisheries Ministry Secretary Dr. P.K. Kolita Kamal Jinadasa and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department's Director General Susantha Kahawatta.

During the meeting, vessel owners raised several concerns, including the high cost of the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) and its maintenance fees, sudden cancellations of fishing trips without prior notice, tuna stock losses due to shark predation, inad...
