Sri Lanka, Oct. 18 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning of strong lightning and thundershowers affecting several parts of the island.

According to the advisory, there is a high likelihood of thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning in the Central, North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and Northwestern provinces, as well as in the Ampara, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts.

The department has cautioned the public to remain vigilant, noting that temporary strong winds may accompany thundershowers. Residents are advised to take necessary safety measures to minimize the risk of lightning-related hazards.
