Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has pledged that people's representatives in Parliament are committed to taking every possible step and policy decision necessary to minimize the occurrence of tragic road accidents in the future.

Issuing a statement over last night's fatal bus accident in Ella, Premadasa expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of 15 lives, including the Secretary of the Tangalle Urban Council, and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Premadasa further paid tribute to the police, rescue teams, medical staff, and residents of Ella for their swift response in saving lives following the tragedy.
