Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- A suspect who pleaded guilty to illegally felling trees and igniting them in the Seethaeliya Forest Reserve has been fined one hundred thousand rupees and had to pay compensation as well, amounting to one hundred and three thousand-five hundred rupees. This order was made by Judge R.A.C.P. Amaratunga of the Welimada Division Magistrate's Court.
This complaint was filed at the Welimada Court by the Nuwara Eliya District Forest Officers Unit and the Nuwara Eliya Regional Forest Officer Unit.
