Sri Lanka, May 12 -- Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today (12) to record a statement over the alleged Airbus bribery deal linked to SriLankan Airlines.

Rajapaksa was summoned based on claims made by former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena, the main suspect in the case, who had allegedly stated that Rs. 60 million from the suspected bribe money was handed over to the former President.

The investigation relates to allegations surrounding a US$2 million bribe connected to the purchase of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines.
