Sri Lanka, Oct. 15 -- Attorney-at-Law Gunaratne Wanninayake has filed a writ petition through his lawyers at the Court of Appeal, seeking an order to prevent his arrest.
The Inspector General of Police, the Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters Inspector, and several others have been named as respondents in the petition.
In his petition, Wanninayake has stated that the police are preparing to illegally arrest him in connection with an incident in which he allegedly obstructed a police officer in the discharge of his duties at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court premises recently. Accordingly, he has requested the Court of Appeal to issue an order preventing his arrest.
