Sri Lanka, July 1 -- The Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA), yesterday threatened to take legal action to opt out of the National Policy on Bus Fares.

LPBOA President Gemunu Wijeratne, told media yesterday that the Government has committed an act of deception against private bus owners by reducing diesel prices just as the annual bus fare revision was scheduled to take effect from today (July 1).

According to the National Policy on Bus Fares, a 20 perecnt increase in bus fares was expected from July 1.However, following the fuel price drop, Wijeratne noted that the increase will now likely be limited to 15 to 17 percent.
