Sri Lanka, April 20 -- A low-floor priority bus service designed for persons with disabilities will be launched tomorrow (21) as a pilot project from the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Center.

The initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, is part of the Government's efforts to promote equal access and inclusive public transport under the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme.

An investment of Rs. 430 million has been allocated for the project. In its first phase, 10 modern, air-conditioned low-floor buses will be deployed, with facilities to ensure safe and easy access for wheelchair users.
