Sri Lanka, May 29 -- The Excise Department has announced that all licensed liquor outlets across the country will remain closed from the evening of May 29 until June 1 in view of the Vesak Full Moon Festival.

Excise Commissioner General M.B.N.A. Pemarathna said the islandwide closure is being implemented to mark Vesak 2570. The public has been urged to report any violations through the hotline 1913 or via email at oicoptroom@excise.gov.lk, while warning that strict legal action will be taken against outlets operating illegally during the period.
