Sri Lanka, Dec. 27 -- Renowned Western music legend Maxi Rozairo has passed away at the age of 77.

Rozairo began his remarkable musical journey in 1966 with the band Sound Waves and became the lead vocalist of the acclaimed band Spitfires by 1970.

His exceptional talent took him beyond Sri Lanka, including notable performances overseas, such as a stint in Beirut during the 1970s, where a prominent nightclub was named in his honor.

Throughout his career, Rozairo shared the stage with iconic artists including Noeline Honter, Raja and Priyanthi Jalaldeen, Dilup Gabadamudalige, Dalreen Suby, and Mignone Fernando, leaving a lasting impact on Sri Lanka's Western music scene.
