Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- Even though Sri Lanka lost two of their pool games, the country's girls' 33 basketball team remained hopeful of advancing to the quarterfinals, while the boys' team was heartbreakingly eliminated from the 3rd Asian Youth Games 33 Basketball competition held in Manama, Bahrain yesterday.
In a tense final Pool B clash, the Sri Lanka girls' team fell to Thailand 13-18 in Match 16, following an earlier 11-17 defeat to Indonesia in Match 13. Despite the two losses, their earlier victories against Maldives (19-14) and Palestine (20-14) have kept their qualification chances alive, as four teams from the pool will progress to the knockout stage.
