Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- Rumesh Tharanga the Sri Lankan javelin thrower set up a new National Record of 86.50m at the World Athletic Continental Tour Bronze event and qualified to the World Athletic Championships which will be held in September in Tokyo and his aim is to win a world championship medal. Tharanga and Sumedha Ranasinghe two javelin throwers won gold and bronze medals in this event and both have qualified for World Championship.
"I am very happy with my performance and my coach gave me good support to reach this level," said Rumesh Tharanga on his arrival at the Katunayake Airport yesterday.
