Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- Sri Lanka's nine-member junior swimming team left the island to take part in the 3rd Asian Youth Games swimming competition, which begins today (October 27) at the Khalifa Sports City Swimming Pool Complex in Manama, Bahrain.
Leading the team is MF Muhammad, the 17-year-old Zahira College, Colombo swimmer, who is also the national record holder for the men's 200m breaststroke. Known for his power and precision in the pool, Muhammad will compete in his main events - 200m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, and 200m individual medley - and is widely seen as Sri Lanka's strongest medal hope.
