Sri Lanka, Oct. 25 -- Sri Lanka's Lahiru Achintha created history by winning the country's first-ever Gold medal at the Asian Youth Games, clinching victory in the Boys' 1500m event held in Bahrain on Wednesday (23).
Achintha,of St. Aloysius College, Ratnapura, clocked a personal best of 3 minutes and 57.42 seconds to secure the gold medal . The Silver medal went to a Chinese athlete who finished in 3 minutes and 58.73 seconds, while the Bronze was claimed by a competitor from Hong Kong with a time of 4 minutes and 5.09 seconds.
