Srilanka, Oct. 11 -- The first copy of KKS Perera's latest novel, Crimson Bargain, was presented to Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen, a victim of racist politics, at a soft launch held at the Book Fair. The book was handed over to the author by Mr. Dinesh Kulatunga, President of the Book Publishers Association and Chairman of Neptune Publishers.
The choice of recipient for the first copy was particularly significant, as the novel's plot mirrors Dr. Shafi's own experiences with societal injustice. The story revolves around an unfortunate woman from an elite family who becomes a victim of her own kith and kin and ends up on the streets-a casualty of domestic cruelty, just as Dr. Shafi has endured political discrimination.
