Sri Lanka, July 15 -- The Railways Department reinstated daily operations for the Colombo- Kankesanthurai Intercity express train as of yesterday (14).

The reversal comes after authorities previously restricted the route to four days a week due to a power set shortage, which drew heavy complaints from passengers and trade unions.

Although it was earlier decided to suspend the operation of this train on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to a shortage of power sets, the Ministry has taken steps to resume normal operation of the train after the railway trade unions pointed out to the administration that passengers using the Northern Railway line were facing severe inconvenience and hardships.
