Sri Lanka, March 27 -- Sunanda Kodagoda was awarded a Kalabhushana award at the 40th Kalabhushana State Award ceremony at Temple Trees recently.

A veteran poet, writer, journalist, and photographer, Kodagoda has been actively engaged in literature for over fifty years and photography for over forty years.

Kodagada began his writing career as a regional journalist at the Davasa and Riviresa newspapers and was later a feature writer for Nara Nataka in the Riviresa.

Some of the creative contributions he has been involved in are Madhumadhavi (a poetry magazine on radio), Padyavali, Viridu Sangrahaya, and Sarala Gee (simple songs). He contributed to scriptwriting for the teledrama series Kopi Kade on the Independent Television Network (ITN)...
