Sri Lanka, April 11 -- Kabir Hashim has been appointed as the Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

The appointment was made yesterday (10) by Opposition Leader and SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa.

Hashim is a Member of Parliament representing the Kegalle District and has been in Parliament since 1994. He previously served as General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP) from 2014 to 2018.

He has also held several ministerial positions, including Highways and Road Development, Petroleum Resources Development, Public Enterprise Development, and Higher Education and Investment Promotion.
