Sri Lanka, May 13 -- Sri Lanka Association of Justices of the Peace (JPs) Secretary Sampath Rambukpotha has requested the Justice Minister and the Government to amend a gazette notification issued on June 4, 2025, which stipulates that the post of Justice of the Peace becomes invalid once the individual reaches the age of 75.Sri Lanka Trade Report

The Secretary made these remarks during a media briefing held by the Sri Lanka Association of Justices of the Peace in Colombo recently.

The Secretary stated that there is no age limit for Justices of the Peace anywhere else in the world. He emphasised that being a JP is an honorary position provided as a free service to the public.
