Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- Australian low-cost carrier Jetstar has launched its first-ever direct flights between Sri Lanka and Australia, strengthening air connectivity between the two countries and opening a new low-fare option for travellers.

The inaugural service arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport on August 25, with the first Colombo-Melbourne flight departing shortly afterwards. The new service will operate three times a week throughout the year, providing more than 100,000 seats annually between Colombo and Melbourne.
