Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akio Isomata signed the grant contract of the demining project under the scheme 'Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)', with Delvon Assistance for Social Harmony (DASH) Director and Programme Manager Ananda Chandrasiri.
The Government of Japan has provided approximately US$ 450,000 (approximately Rs. 131,400,000) for the project with DASH to extend its support for humanitarian demining activities in the Northern Province. Japan has been a major donor in demining activities in Sri Lanka since 2002, and the total assistance amounts to approximately US$ 48 million.
