Sri Lanka, Oct. 25 -- Sri Lanka's Janidu Dhananjaya advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's 50kg flyweight category at the 3rd Asian Youth Games, defeating Bangladesh's Asadullah Md Ali 3-2 in a closely contested three-round bout in Bahrain yesterday.
Dhananjaya edged the first round 3-2 with precise jabs and effective counter-punching, narrowly lost the second round 2-3 as his opponent found openings, but came back strongly in the final round, winning 3-2 with superior combinations to seal the victory.
With this win, Dhananjaya will face Tajikistan in the quarterfinals on Saturday, October 25.
