Sri Lanka, Oct. 18 -- Labour Minister and Economic Development Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando yesterday said that irresponsible borrowings prevented Sri Lanka to achieve sustained economic growth following the end of war in 2009. He was of the view that most of the borrowing have not gone into productive economic channels and this has prevented the country achieve sustainable economic growth.

The Deputy Minister was addressing the Voyage Sri Lanka 2025 International Maritime Summit which brought together global experts, investors, policymakers and industry leaders to sharpen the future of Sri Lanka's blue economy.
