Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- The Colombo High Court yesterday served an indictment on former Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne, over allegations that he caused financial loss to the government by printing Vesak cards during his tenure.
The indictment was served before Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.
The former minister, who was out on bail, appeared before the court when the case was taken up. After the charges were read out by High Court interpreter Malshi Fernando, Jayaratne pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following that, the trial of the case commenced and former Civil Aviation Authority Deputy Director General Panduka Priyanka Jayaweera testified.
