Sri Lanka, Oct. 21 -- The prices of imported vehicles in Sri Lanka have fallen by up to Rs. 1.5 million, following a reduction in vehicle prices in Japan, according to Vehicle Importers Association of Lanka (VIAL) President Indika Sampath Merinchige.

Merinchige noted that unauthorized vehicle imports had led to a backlog of unregistered vehicles in the local market, impacting sales.

Central Bank data shows that USD 705 million was spent on importing personal vehicles between January and August 2025.

He highlighted specific price changes:
