Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- Kandy National Hospital Director Dr. Iresha Fernando said that 28 acres of the 58 acres of land owned by the Kandy National Hospital have been occupied by squatters and not only houses but lodges, shops and even religious places have been built. She said that 267 unauthorized settlers were identified in an inspection conducted last year and that this number is increasing. Dr. Fernando revealed this at the Kandy District Coordination Committee meeting recently.

The director also stated that the residents of these buildings are working to expand them over the weekend.
