Housing project launched in Kandaketiya for 41 families hit by Ditwah disaster
Sri Lanka, Oct. 8 -- A new housing project for 41 families displaced by the Ditwa disaster was launched in Kandaketiya yesterday (07).
The foundation stones were laid for the construction of 41 new houses on State-owned land at Medaleyaya, Mahathenna, Kandaketiya, under the patronage of Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathna.
The project is being implemented in phases, with a grant of Rs. 5 million allocated for the construction of each house. The programme aims to provide safe and permanent housing for families whose homes were completely destroyed by the disaster.
Meanwhile, compensation cheques of Rs. 200,000 each were presented to 45 families whose houses were partially damaged by the Ditwa disaste...
