Sri Lanka, July 17 -- Malani Fonseka bids farewell on screen Does Rasika Liyanage's debut honour the legacy it carries?

On July 24, MPI will release Monara Vilak across cinemas in Sri Lanka, and it arrives with a weight that few local films carry. This is the final screen appearance of screen legend Malani Fonseka. It is also her last film with Sanath Gunathilaka, one of the last roles of the late Darshan Dharmaraj, and the final time we will hear Dr Victor Ratnayake compose, arrange, and sing for a film. It is also the last duet on record between Dr Victor Ratnayake and Kalasuri Latha Walpola. For these reasons alone, Monara Vilak is already part of cinema history before a single ticket is sold.
