Sri Lanka, July 27 -- The number of high-risk dengue zones has risen to 175.
A total of 81,511 dengue cases and 61 deaths have been reported so far this year.
Out of the total 81,511 cases, 43,132 were recorded from the Western Province alone.
The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) said this month has logged the highest number of cases so far, highlighting that 26,136 dengue infections were recorded in the past 25 days.
The NDCU noted 21,534 cases were reported during the month of June.
On a slightly positive note, a decrease in dengue cases has been observed in the Colombo District, where 16,213 cases have been reported so far.
Meanwhile, the Gampaha District has recorded the highest number of infections, standing at 26,136 cases.
