Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL), in partnership with the College of Ophthalmologists of Sri Lanka (COSL) and the Ministry of Health, successfully facilitated 1,000 Free Cataract Surgeries for underprivileged older persons in Hambantota and Samanthurai recently.Sri Lanka News

Accordingly 500 Surgeries were performed at the Government General Hospital in Hambantota and 500 Surgeries at the Base Hospital in Samanthurai.

The cost of the Surgeries was funded by the Canadian based "Jeco Foundation" and implemented by HelpAge Sri Lanka.

The Cataract Surgeries in Hambantota were performed in partnership with the President's Fund.
