Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- The Road Development Authority (RDA) stated that heavy traffic congestion occurred at several locations across the expressway network yesterday (26) as a result of motorists travelling to their hometowns and other destinations for the long weekend.

The Authority noted that traffic build-ups were reported near the Mattala exit on the Southern Expressway, the Kadawatha exit on the Outer Circular Expressway, and the Mirigama entrance and Yaggapitiya exit on the Central Expressway.

Due to the heavy congestion at these locations, officials advised expressway drivers to use alternative routes.
