Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- Showers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts today (18), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some places in Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts.

Several spells of showers are also expected in the North-Western Province.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in Mullaitivu and Polonnaruwa districts, after 1.00 p.m.

The public has been advised to take adequate precautions against possible temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
