Sri Lanka, April 21 -- Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (21), the Department of Meteorology said.

Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara and Anuradhapura districts.

Misty conditions are expected during the early hours of the morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts.

The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
