Sri Lanka, Oct. 25 -- The Department of Irrigation has reported that water levels in several reservoirs across Sri Lanka have risen due to ongoing heavy rainfall.

Districts including Galle, Matara, Kalutara, Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura received substantial rainfall over the past period.

In particular, the Kelani, Attanagalu, Gin, and Bentara catchment areas recorded nearly 50 millimeters of rainfall, while the Kalu Ganga basin was the most affected, leading to a rapid increase in water levels.

As a result, elevated water levels have been observed in the Ratnapura, Millakanda, and Ellagawa areas along the Kalu Ganga. However, officials said that current levels are not expected to reach flood stage.
