Sri Lanka, Nov. 2 -- Some 2819 trainee nurses from the 2020 student nursing cohort who were recruited to the Sri Lankan health service as Grade III nursing officers received their letters of appointment from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in a ceremony at Temple Trees yesterday (1) morning.
The newly appointed nursing officers will be assigned to hospitals and healthcare institutions countrywide that are administered by the central Government and provincial councils.
Health and Mass Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa said steps had been expedited to fill vacancies to address staff shortages across the country's hospital system and provide the public with a higher-quality healthcare service.
