Sri Lanka, July 2 -- Sri Lanka's headline inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), accelerated further to 6.8% year-on-year in June 2026, up from 5.5% in May, driven mainly by continued increases in domestic energy prices following the Middle East conflict, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said.

In its latest inflation report released on Tuesday, the CBSL said non-food inflation rose to 8.4% in June from 7.8% in the previous month, contributing significantly to the increase in headline inflation. Food inflation also accelerated to 3.6% from 0.9% in May. On a month-on-month basis, the CCPI increased by 2.1% in June after recording a 0.9% increase in May.
