Sri Lanka, Oct. 10 -- The Colombo High Court has ordered the case filed by the Bribery Commission against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and four others to be heard on December 17, 2025.
The case alleges that the defendants caused a loss of over Rs. 1.8 billion to the Sri Lankan government by investing government funds in Greek bonds in 2012, despite Greece facing a severe economic recession at the time.
The defendants, including former Deputy Governor Dharmasena Dheerasinghe, Don Wasantha Ananda Silva, Chandrasiri Jayasinghe Panditha Siriwardena, and M.A. Karunaratne, appeared before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal today (10).
