Sri Lanka, June 17 -- The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (15) decided to obtain a total of US$ 200 million in funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to implement the Post-Ditwah Cyclone Renovation and Livelihood Assistance Project aimed at restoring critical infrastructure and supporting affected communities.

The decision follows the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah, which struck Sri Lanka in November 2025, severely damaging highways, railway tracks, irrigation systems, homes and economic activities across the country.

A post-disaster needs assessment estimated damages at approximately US$ 2.1 billion and losses at US$ 1.4 billion, with total recovery and reconstruction requirements reaching around US$ 3.5 billion. ...
