Sri Lanka, Feb. 20 -- The Government is preparing to develop the Talaimannar North Pier in several phases.

In the first phase it has proposed to construct a new North Pier with a length of 310 meters and a width of 7 meters, Ports and Aviation Minister Anula Karunathilaka said.

The Minister said that this will facilitate passenger and vehicle access from the main road to the berthing area. He added that steps are being taken to conduct a feasibility study to assess the technical, market, economic, environmental and financial feasibility of this development proposal before implementing it.
